BARCELONA PLANNING MAJOR SQUAD OVERHAUL THIS SUMMER

It seems like there is a large number of players that are expected to be heading for the exit door at the Camp Nou this summer, according to various sources. Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has reportedly grown frustrated with some of the players in his squad and will reportedly trim the team’s number as he wants to continue to build his team capable of challenging for major titles next season.

A lot of Barcelona players have been criticized for their lack of zeal and desire to play for the club in recent times and it looks as though they will finally be losing their spot in the team. There could be as many as 14 players that will be leaving Barca this summer, with the majority of those stars either nearing the latter years of their career or not showing enough quality to represent the Catalan giants.

Martin Braithwaite, Philipe Coutinho, Miralem Pjanic, Samuel Umtiti, Neto, and some other undisclosed players are set to be included in the list of the most likely departures this summer as Koeman seemingly wants to show some ruthlessness in trimming his squad.

Mingueza and Riqui Puig have shown tremendous development so far this season and have been the favored option in defense, meaning that Umtiti is no longer needed at the club. Coutinho has also not been able to justify his hefty price tag since his big-money move from Liverpool and has continued to struggle at the Spanish club. Braithwaite is reportedly not needed at the club and has been linked with a move to Sevilla and Valencia who have both been monitoring the striker’s situation at Barca.

Koeman has identified a couple of stars that he will be pursuing as replacements this summer and is currently getting prepared for a busy transfer window ahead.
