UNITED BLOW IN DEMBELE CHASE

 

Manchester United were one of the clubs strongly linked with a loan move for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman was considered by Red Devils officials as a short-term replacement for number one target Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund.


The Red Devils had turned their attention to a loan transfer for Dembele in the summer after it became clear that they won’t be able to lure England international Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. Dembele opted against any loan move to interested clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and others as he opted to fight for his future at the Nou Camp.

He has done a good job of fighting for his Barcelona future following the good form shown by him in recent games to the extent the offer of a new contract is being discussed according to trusted Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The latest news of a new Barcelona contract for Ousmane Dembele will definitely be a big blow to Manchester United. The Red Devils won’t be able to sign him for the foreseeable future if he signs a new deal at the Nou Camp.His present contract expires in2022.

Dembele was not in the immediate plans of Ronald Koeman at the start of the season but he has been able to force his way into the first team picture with the aid of some fantastic performancesespecially in the last game before the November international break, a thumping 5-2 victory over Real Betis at home.

The 23-year-old attacker scored the opening goal of the game to set his team on the way to a much-needed victory. In addition, he has two goals in three Champions League appearances this term.
